The ninth series of daily novel 44 Scotland Street ended in April 2013 in The Scotsman newspaper. Each episode written by Alexander McCall Smith and illustrated by Iain McIntosh - at the end of the sixth series the word count was approaching 800,000 with more than 700 drawings produced.

44 Scotland Street began in 2004 and previous series are available in hardback and paperback. The books have jackets by Iain McIntosh and each volume contains several dozen illustrations from the series.

Artwork from the series was the subject of an exhibition in the Scottish National Portrait Gallery.
